Job Title:  English Conversation Teacher

Length of Service:  3 months to 2+ years

Ministry Vision | Purpose:  Partnering with Japanese churches to build spiritual bridges by teaching English as a second language.

General Description:  In Japan, English teaching can be a great tool for building relationships with people, which can lead to opportunities to share the Gospel and connect seekers with the church. To this end, your main role will be preparing and teaching English lessons for adults and/or children. The focus in these contexts is usually on conversational English, rather than grammar or writing skills. There may be opportunities as well for you to lead Bible studies or engage in other ministries.

Qualifications: 
  • Native (or native level) English speaking abilities.
  • English teacher training or certification not is required but teaching skills or experience would be helpful.
  • You will be expected to attend language school and make progress in understanding and speaking Japanese.?
  • Willingness to engage with the local Church and community for cultural learning, fellowship and outreach.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • For those engaging in Bible teaching or other church-based ministries, some additional training in Bible, theology or ministry may be required.
