Job Title:  Ministry Development Specialist

Length of Service:  2 or more years

Ministry Vision / Purpose:  Support Pastors and National leaders/Facilitate Leadership development alongside national pastors/Facilitate pastoral development


General Description:  Be based in Guayaquil. Meet with national leader and national pastors in order to provide support and an outlet for them to be heard. With guidance from the national leadership and working with local churches, help recruit/recognize those called into pastoral ministry and facilitate their preparation alongside the national leadership. Provide continued learning opportunities for national pastors and ministerial students though online resources, microteaching teams, and teaching in person classes. Work with national leadership to plug them into an online program for ministerial students, or work with national leaders to begin a small scale local bible institute to prepare ministers. Work with national leaders and pastors to provide needed leadership development opportunities for pastors and lay leaders/future lay leaders.


Requirements:
  • Life experience
  • Spanish or the ability to learn Spanish
  • Solid Biblical world view, leadership experience
  • Theological Ed background or connections to others with that type of educational preparation that would come to Ecuador and teach
  • Self stater
  • Ability to work under the national church and/or Regional leadership.

Field Background:  Ecuador is a county on the west coast of South America. The Equator runs through the country near the capital city of Quito. Guayaquil is the largest city with at population of about 3 million people. The Wesleyan Church is present in Guayaquil and Cuenca which is the country's third largest city and is located about 3 and ½ hours from Guayaquil in the Andes Mountains. At this time, there are only missionaries in Cuenca. The primary religion in Ecuador is Catholicism, but many who claim to be Catholic do no practice any kind of faith. There is growing secularism, agnosticism, and atheism. At the moment there are two Wesleyan churches in Guayaquil and one in Cuenca.
