  • learn the local language
  • learn about the Northeast Asian worldview as it relates to finances
  • develop culturally appropriate training to support financial health for local individuals and families (principles that work in North America may not work here)
  • mentor individuals and families regarding finances
  • mentoring regarding financial responsibility IS discipleship and opens a door for discipleship in other areas of life

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree is helpful for getting a visa. (Though a young person could attend college at an English-speaking school as a means to getting a visa).
  • A knowledge of or willingness to learn about Asset Based Community Development, poverty in developing nations, financial management strategies for different levels of poverty, effective teaching and mentoring methods, coaching for mindset shifts and behavior change. (We can help connect you with resources and mentor you in this process).
  • It would be very helpful if you were not middle or upper class your whole life, but this is not a necessity.
  • You must not have the mindset that because something worked for you, it can work for anyone in any culture.

Field Background:  Northeast Asia is a developing country with fewer than 3% of believers with a general openness to discuss spiritual things. Government corruption and systems make it difficult for people to get out of poverty. It is a creative-access country that is somewhat isolated but generally safe.
