FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions:
What will I do on a NEXT Week trip?
SEE TRIP DESCRIPTIONS ABOVE FOR MORE INFO. NEXT week will give you the chance to experience a new culture, serve with a team of committed disciple makers, and participate in the Great Commission. You will connect with the local community as you partner with educational projects, prayer walk, and learn a new language. You will be equipped with tools both to help you grow as a disciple of Jesus and make disciples of Jesus. And you'll have some adventures along the way too! [Day-to-day schedules and events will vary for each location because ministry efforts are contextualized to each culture.]
Is the COVID vaccine needed?
Most international sites do not currently require the vaccine. COVID-19 protocol varies by country and is subject to change as travel restriction are constantly being updated by each country. If you want more info on this, email us at [email protected].
How do I raise money to go?
We know that the cost of an experience like this can feel overwhelming! But we firmly believe it's worth it and our team is here to help every step of the way. We offer an extensive Fundraising Guide to help you get started, and we also offer 1-on-1 coaching as needed. Some participants self-fund or work an extra job to save up money. We truly believe that if God is calling you to go, He will always provide the means to do so!
I'm in high school but will be 18 soon. Can I go?
Anyone 18 or older by the start of a NEXT Week trip can go.
Do I need a passport?
If you are a US citizen, you do not need a passport to serve at a U.S. site, but you do need a passport if you are traveling to another country outside of the U.S. If you are not a US citizen, you need a passport for all of our locations.
What happens after I apply?
After filling out the short application, you will be contacted by the NEXT team via email. You will need to complete a background check and a brief interview with the Team Leader as well. If you are accepted to a place on the team, we will start orientation calls/training, team building, and fundraising with you.
Will there be training?
Yes! We believe that healthy, impactful short-term trips require good training and debrief for participants. Before the experience, you will have training sessions with your whole team, and when you arrive on site, you will have more in-depth and culture-specific training by the long-term workers and leaders.
I've never been on a mission trip before. Is this for me?
Yes! Whether you've done cross-cultural ministry before or this is your first experience, a NEXT Week trip is designed with you in mind. Our trained team leaders and local ministry leaders will walk with you through every step. You will be serving alongside a team and will be learning together with them no matter what your experience level is.
Who is leading the trip?
Each NEXT Week trip has 2 Team Leaders as well as the long-term workers at each site.
